Terms of Use

These terms apply whenever you use San Francisco People Search. Use of the service means you accept them. Please leave the site if you do not agree.

1. Nature of the Service

San Francisco People Search is privately operated. It describes and links to public records, court indexes, directories, and official portals used for lawful research in San Francisco, California. We do not host government records and have no affiliation with a government agency, court, or record custodian.

2. Acceptable Use Rules

You must use the service and any information reached through it only for lawful purposes. Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. No Consumer Reports

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. ยง 1681 et seq. Neither our content nor a result reached through a linked search tool is a consumer report. It may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or any other FCRA-regulated purpose.

4. External Services

Government portals, sponsored search tools, and other third-party services have separate terms and privacy practices. We do not control their content, availability, fees, results, or treatment of submitted data.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is offered "as is" and "as available," with no express or implied warranty. We do not promise that information will be complete, accurate, or current, or that an outside portal will remain available and return a correct match.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent the law permits, we are not responsible for direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss caused by use of the service or a linked resource, including reliance on a record or search result.

7. Your Duty to Indemnify

You agree to indemnify and hold the site's operators harmless from claims and demands, including reasonable attorneys' fees, resulting from misuse of the service or a breach of these terms.

8. Site Intellectual Property

Copyright protects the original text, design, logo, and layout. Brief attributed quotations and ordinary page links are allowed. Republishing entire pages or copying the service systematically is not.

9. Revisions to These Terms

We may revise these terms by posting a replacement here. Continued use after a revision takes effect means the new version is accepted.

10. Restricting Access

We may block or limit access without notice when a user abuses the service or violates these terms.

11. California Law

California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Government records linked from the service remain subject to the California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 et seq., the San Francisco Sunshine Ordinance where applicable, and other confidentiality laws.

12. Severability

If one provision cannot be enforced, all remaining provisions continue in effect.
